Cervical cancer was responsible for 1% of female deaths in 2022.

Cervical cancer has been reducing in Australia since the introduction of the HPV vaccine.

The HPV vaccination protects against HPV types that can cause cervical cancer and genital warts.

Regular cervical screening allows abnormalities to be detected early to try and stop abnormal cells on your cervix from transforming into cancer.

You can help protect yourself by:

  • Having your HPV vaccination

  • Regular cervical screening test every 5 years

  • Not smoking
